Frank Santoni's Addition.
In 2013 Frank Santoni became the Club’s coordinator at the Dublin Conference taking over the administrative and organizing efforts from Eli Bahat. In order to better serve the Club and update the growing list of members, volunteer Regional Coordinators were established to match the IFALPA organizational structure.
They consist of Asia Pacific, North America, Caribbean/South America and Middle East/Africa. In addition the Club has also established a Coordinator in Montreal as well as a Website Coordinator.
Following the Panama Conference, two nominations for membership into the Alpha Omega Club were received in accordance with its historical guidelines. For the first time in the club’s history its membership was asked to vote on acceptance of individuals who were not pilots, but who contributed significantly to the benefit of the Professional Pilot. After a healthy and very thoughtful e-mail exchange by many members, the nominees were accepted with well over the two thirds required votes.
Based on inputs from the membership, the criteria for new nominees have been revised to read:
Membership is automatically given to all holders of the C. N. Sayen Award and the Scroll of Merit.
In addition it has been agreed to accept others who have made a significant contribution to the profession of airline pilots as members provided they have been nominated and seconded – in writing – by other members, each nomination having been presented to all members of the Club, and a minimum two thirds of those casting their ballot approved the nomination.
Further it has been agreed that past IFALPA Presidents be offered membership.
In October, 2014, the revised Alpha Omega website came on-line with the excellent support of IFALPA staff. It contains direct links to and from the IFALPA website, old and current news, and Alpha Omega history. Contact information is also available and is password protected. Members will be directed to the website whenever the latest news becomes available. Future improvements to format and ability to revise the contact information will follow next year.
